Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection whatsoever to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
