Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams and How to React

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – by dialing 112 – as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
