Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the armed forces.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
