Fake Carabinieri Scammers Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not actual military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
