Warning: Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
