Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without trace.
