Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
