Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
