Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not real military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
