Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the forces.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
