Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after acquiring the money, disappears.
