Garda Area Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
