Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, disappear.
