Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Business Owners in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
