Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Police

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
