Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have fallen target to individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
