Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Local Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
