Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Run Garda Area Fraud Schemes

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
