Fake Carabinieri Scams: How to Recognize and Respond to Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have the money, disappear.
