Scammers Imitate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, on each occasion, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

had the sum of money, then disappears.
