Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the military.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

had the amount of money, then disappears.
