Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri via Phone in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize the scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
