Wally Allifranchini Quintet Brings Miles & Trane to Ponti sul Mincio Jazz Night

Jazz returns to Ponti sul Mincio on Friday, 11 September at 21:15 in Piazza Parolini with Claudio “Wally” Allifranchini’s quintet. The concert, titled *Miles & Trane*, is the 18th event of the 14th edition of the touring festival *Suoni e Sapori del Garda*, which resumes after a short break with a double date between the Mantua and Verona areas. Admission is free.

On stage, Allifranchini (sax) will be joined by Daniele Moretto (trumpet), Eugenia Canale (piano), Marcello Testa (bass) and Nicola Stranieri (drums). The evening is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, whose collaboration began in 1955 when Davis hired Coltrane for his first major quintet, leading to landmark recordings including *’Round About Midnight* (1957), *Milestones* (1958) and *Kind of Blue* (1959). After Davis dismissed Coltrane in 1957 due to substance addiction issues, the saxophonist later returned for tours and albums such as *Someday My Prince Will Come* (1961). The festival continues on Sunday, 13 September in Castelnuovo del Garda (Piazza degli Alpini) with Daniele Stefani’s *Corde d’Italia* project.
