Traffic around Lake Garda on Sunday, 25 October changes mainly in the town centres. Some squares are closed to traffic for the day’s events, while roadworks with alternating one-way traffic and closures continue in several towns, for different periods until the end of October.
Festivals and events
In Caprino Veronese, Piazza Don Roncari in the Pazzon area is closed to traffic and parking from 7 am to 7 pm for the Fiera del pero trentosso (a fair dedicated to a local pear variety). Vehicles will be towed away.
In Arco, a ban on traffic and parking, with forced removal of vehicles, applies from 7 am to 5 pm in Piazza San Michele in Varignano, Piazza Povoli in Vigne, Piazza Sant’Antonio and Piazza San Marcello in Chiarano.
In Desenzano del Garda, Piazza Cappelletti stays closed from 7 am to 5 pm for a display of vintage farm vehicles.
In Sirmione, Piazzale Europa is closed to traffic and parking from 9 pm on Friday, 23 October until 1 pm on Sunday, for the national gathering of the Alpine Brigades’ retired Fanfare bands. Only vehicles authorised by the concessionaire may enter.
In Toscolano Maderno, Via Cavour, Via Benamati and Via Garibaldi close from 8 am to 6 pm while the festive lights are installed. The work site moves along as the lights go up, and each road reopens as soon as its stretch is clear. In bad weather the work is postponed to the following day.
In Sanico, in the historic centre, Via Sanico has a parking ban with vehicle removal from 8 am to 8 pm to set up the area for the Sanico Sapori d’autunno (autumn flavours) food festival.
In Malcesine, the area behind the bus station is closed to traffic from 9:30 am to 5 pm until 28 October. An experimental shuttle runs through it between Retelino and the coach station, reserved for tourists arriving by bus.
Main roads
In Bardolino, the junction between the SP 31 provincial road and Strada Bardolina, together with Strada Tre Contrè, has alternating one-way traffic from 20 to 27 October. The work is for the installation of new traffic lights.
Roadworks in the towns
In Brenzone sul Garda, Via De Loc, in the hamlet of Assenza and in the Borago area, has alternating one-way traffic until 30 October, from 7 am to 7 pm, for resurfacing. Traffic is controlled by traffic lights or flaggers.
In Desenzano, Via Ugo La Malfa has alternating one-way traffic from 24 to 31 October, from 8 am to 7 pm, for resurfacing and the installation of new drains.
In Lazise, Via Po is closed to traffic from 21 to 30 October, from 8 am to 6 pm, including Saturdays and Sundays, to replace the water network and connections. Residents’ cars and emergency vehicles are still allowed.
In Lonato del Garda, on Via Rassica, between Via Isonzo and number 22, traffic alternates in one direction from 20 to 31 October, from 8 am to 5 pm, with a parking ban and vehicle removal. On Via Lazzaretto, the ban on traffic and parking applies from 12 to 31 October, during the hours 8:30 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 6 pm, for work on the new electricity network. Company vehicles and residents are allowed.
In Manerba del Garda, Via Pascoli has alternating one-way traffic, a parking ban with vehicle removal and a 20 km/h speed limit from 1 pm on 21 October to midnight on 30 October, along the stretch in front of a work site.
In Salò, on Via Brunati at number 35, alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers applies from 15 to 30 October, from 8:30 am to 5 pm, for ongoing works.
