Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police force, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112—once you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
