Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region to Defraud Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
