Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
when they have the sum of money, no longer make themselves visible.
