Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Médio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

had money and then disappears.
