Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,
had money but then disappear without further contact.
