Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
after gaining money, disappear without a trace.
