Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer seen.
