Scammers Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Business Owners
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.
Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
