Fraudsters Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Businesses and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, suggesting subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal police of the municipality.

Recognizing Frauds

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
