Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officials.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they are after money, will disappear.
