Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire department, or municipal vigilance.

Identifying the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have money, disappears and is no longer visible.
