Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often present subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
