Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines from the army.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
