Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Region
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.
So, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,
want money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
