Police Impersonators Scamming Garda Hoteliers and Retailers

They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the armed forces but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would want money, but then disappears.
