Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Region, Urge Caution

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, disappear without a trace.
