Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Fleece Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
