Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
