Criminals Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, criminals contact hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

So, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

would seek money, and then disappears.
