Fraudulent Calls Pretending to Be Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subs

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you have a sense that you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money, but no longer shows themselves.
