Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear without a trace.
