Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Target Local Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, simply disappears.
