Garda Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

claim to have money but no longer show themselves.
