Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who, when it comes to money, disappears from sight.
