Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Targeting Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

would have money, but no longer appear.
