Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arm‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they are after money, tends to disappear without a trace.
